Session replay
Find and replay any visit pixel-for-pixel, and leave notes for your team.
Session replay lets you play back any visit pixel-for-pixel. You watch the clicks, the scrolls, the moments of hesitation and the dead-ends — so you can see exactly where visitors get stuck, rather than guessing from a chart. It is the after-the-fact companion to watching people on your site as they browse.
How recording works
Recording starts automatically the moment the widget is installed. Every visit is captured from the first page view, so there is nothing to switch on and no sampling to configure — if a visitor reaches a page that has the snippet, that visit is already being recorded. If you have not added the widget yet, follow Installing the widget first.
Finding a recording
Recordings build up quickly, so NudgeVisor gives you a few ways to narrow them down:
- Filter by visitor attributes — plan, role, country or any custom trait — to find the kinds of people you care about. See Attributes & segments.
- Filter by who the visitor is, so you can pull up every session for a named person.
- Use the notes filter to show only sessions that a teammate has annotated — handy when you are following up on something a colleague flagged.
Sessions that carry notes also show an indicator in the list, so you can spot them at a glance without opening each one.
Watching a replay
Open a recording and the visit plays back as the visitor experienced it — the pages they moved through, where they clicked, how far they scrolled and where they paused. Because the replay reconstructs the page itself, you see the real layout rather than a heatmap or a summary.
The page-by-page navigation within a session lines up with the visitor's path through your site. To see how those steps roll up across many visits, look at Journeys.
Context captured with each visit
Every recording stores more than just the screen. Alongside the playback you will see the visitor's IP address and their country, so you have the basic geographic context for where the session came from.
Agent notes on a session
Replays are most useful when your team reviews them together. Any agent can leave a note on a session recording — a quick observation, a question, or a reminder to follow up. Notes turn a recording from a private viewing into a shared piece of evidence the whole team can act on.
Combined with the notes filter and the list indicator above, this makes it easy to hand work between teammates. For more on collaborating, see Teams & notes.
Anonymous vs identified recordings
Recordings are tied to the visitor they belong to. If you have called identify() for that person, their real name appears on every recording, which makes a list of sessions far easier to scan. Visitors you have not identified are still recorded — they simply show as "Anonymous visitor" until you attach a name.
Replay vs live monitoring
Session replay and live visitor monitoring are two sides of the same coin. Live monitoring tells you who is on your site right now; replay lets you go back over a finished visit at your own pace. When you want to step in during a live visit rather than review it afterwards, reach for co-browsing.
